Michael Irger will be offering two possible workshops on Sunday the 24th at the Joannis Spring Didgeridoo Meeting. Please register for the workshops beforehand, by writing to martino@fluiditj.com
Michael plays the didgeridoo in a very distinct, varied and rhythmic way. He extends the possibilities of classical playing the drone by performing melodic
and agile rhythmic patterns giving the impression of a complete orchestra.
Inspired by all genres of modern music Michael continues to experiment with other modern and traditional musical instruments from around the world.
The didgeridoo has been his main instrument of choice for many years wowing international audiences. Michael gives beginner, intermediate and advanced didgeridoo workshops
to share his passion with people who want to start playing and for enthusiasts who want to learn more about this wonderful instrument.
For many years, he has been working with several musicians around the world to share the power of the didgeridoo together with other instruments.

Workshop Description (Advanced Level)
Requirements: You should be comfortable with basic circular breathing and be able to play a steady drone.

- Groove & Circular Breathing “There’s one thing you don’t negotiate in music: the groove!” We’ll explore advanced circular breathing techniques to help you stay in time and never run out of air. You’ll learn the fundamental principles of grooving on the didgeridoo.
- Wobbles: Discover different types of wobbles to make your playing more versatile, dynamic, and colorful.
- Sing with Me: Using your voice while playing the didgeridoo is often underestimated. Learn how to sing and create melodies on your didge to take your expression to the next level.
- Tooting: An excellent technique for creating melodies on your didge. After this session, you’ll hear and use “toots” in a whole new way.

This workshop is for players who are ready to take the next big step and significantly expand their didgeridoo playing.

Requirements
- Confident drone playing, including lower keys
- At least 3 years of didgeridoo experience
- A Didjeribone by Charlie McMahon (the yellow/black plastic model)

What You’ll Learn
- Chromatic Playing: Learn how to change the fundamental note of the drone while playing. Your didge becomes a bass instrument — opening up entirely new musical possibilities and taking your playing to the next level.
- Understanding Notes: Get familiar with the basic notes: C, D, E, F, G, A, B — the foundation of melody and music.
- Music & Melody Basics: Understand how melodies are built and how to apply this knowledge directly to your instrument.
- Harmony Essentials: Introduction to intervals, the circle of fifths, and basic chord theory — explained in a practical, player-friendly way.
- Basslines on Didge: We’ll develop simple, great-sounding basslines that you can use to accompany other musicians.
- Play a Song: Apply everything by learning to play a popular song on the instrument.
